Ortho-K And Your Child

75-90% of School Learning Is Vision Related

What is Myopia (nearsighted) And Why Should I Be Active About Treatment?

Myopia is a condition that affects 42% of people and makes seeing far objects (such as a chalkboard) difficult. It progressively becomes worse during the school age years, causing the need for continuously changing prescriptions to see well. Because doing well in school is so highly dependent on excellent vision, children with myopia should start a treatment course as soon as possible to lower progression.

What Is Ortho-K and How Does It Help?

Ortho-K is considered the most effective method to reduce the progression of myopia in children. In addition to helping your child see better at school, it also has many other great benefits.

      • Improved self esteem.
      • Lower risk to your eyes when playing sports, or from dusty work environments.
      • Reducing the progression of myopia prevents many of the long term eye health issues that are a result of high myopia.
      • Available to younger patients for whom Lasik is not an option.
