Caring for RPG Lenses

Because RGP lenses are resistant to deposits they require less care than soft lenses. However, proper lens care is a key ingredient in successful contact lens wear. To care for your RGP lenses, you should use the following lens care products:

  • Daily Cleaner
  • Soaking (disinfecting) Solution
  • Wetting Solution
  • Enzyme cleaner

Tips on RGP contact lens care:

  • Any time a contact lens is removed from the eye it must be cleaned and disinfected before being reinserted.
  • Your fitter may recommend occasional enzyme cleaning to digest any protein on your lenses. Some patients deposit more protein on their lenses than others, so not all RGP lenses need enzyme treatment. (Enzyme cleaning is particularly helpful to patients with GPC or allergies.)
  • Tap water should never be used to clean or store your lenses.
  • Wetting solutions increase RGP lens comfort by cushioning the cornea as the lens is inserted.

To reduce risk and exposure to our patients and staff, we have decided to limit office capacity to 50% to allow more time for sanitizing between patients and to avoid crowds within the office.

New Stamford hours: Monday-Friday 11am-6:30pm, Saturdays 11am-6pm, closed on Sundays.
New Danbury hours: Monday-Friday 11am -6:30pm, Saturdays 11am-6pm, Sundays 12pm-5pm.

New Office Policies: Due to the limited number of appointments we can offer at this time, our office will require a credit card number on file to book an appointment. If you do not show and do not cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance your card will be charged. Please also be aware that we will be requiring a digital retinal image to screen the health of each patient’s eyes. To see our COVID-19 practice protocol, please click here.
