Dr Wong and the Latest Optomap Technology

Dr. Wong & Associates, in Danbury, Connecticut is pleased to introduce the most up to date technology in retinal imaging, the Optomap. This incredible device permits your eye doctor to see retinal, optic nerve and cornea  structures not seen via regular exam methods by using light to offer a high resolution scan meant to pick up early signs of structural change or disease. This allows your eye doctor to see even the tiniest changes in the retina and optic nerve with greater precision, and much higher definition, making initial and precise diagnosis of well known sight threatening eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, simpler than ever before.

While conventional imaging technologies are often able to scan about 15% of your retina at a time, with The Optomap it is possible to scan in an amazingly large 200 degree arc, capturing approximately 80% of your retina in one panoramic scan. This permits for a more expansive and accurate view of the retina than with less sophisticated scans. This scan will offer both you and your eye care professional an extremely comprehensive depiction of your eye that will provide a useful picture of your general eye health.

The high resolution images produced by the Optomap provide a personal benchmark for each person's ocular health and helps detect sudden changes through the years, and since the images show up automatically on a computer monitor, you are able to see for yourself everything the doctor is telling you about your eye health, allowing you to take an active role in preserving your valuable sense of sight.

The patient experience is also quick, simple and effortless, with a clear focus on augmenting patient ease and disposing of patient discomfort. Nothing touches your eye at any time and it is useful for the entire family, from young to old. The exam involves taking a short look into the device one eye at a time. You will see a pleasant flash of light, which tells you the image of your retina has been taken, and the test is over finished!

Dr. Wong endorses an Optomap scan to every patient, “The quality of the Optomap scan and the amount of information we can get from this scan is of great value. Often, we find that a patient thinks his or her vision is very good, but when we administer the optomap scan, we find that, at the cellular level, there are important changes that signify possible issues that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. Early detection and effective prevention are the most important parts of beating any disease, and this is where the Optomap shines!”
